Dr. Jim Hunter

Executive Architect

Dr. Jim Hunter joined Bloom Value in November 2022 and currently serves as Executive Architect, following his tenure as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). With decades of experience in enterprise architecture and IT strategy, he plays a critical role in driving technology vision and governance across Bloom Value. Dr. Hunter is responsible for defining the enterprise-wide platform architecture, ensuring quality at scale, and embedding security by design aligned with the key health industry standards (HIPAA and ISO 27001). He also serves as a trusted advisor to senior business and IT leaders, translating complex technical concepts into measurable business value.

Dr. Hunter began his career in research roles at City University London before joining the CEGB’s (later Nuclear Electric) Physics Research Laboratories. He transitioned to IBM in 1990, where he spent 31 years in a range of senior roles, including Executive Architect and Open Group Distinguished Architect. Throughout his tenure at IBM, he held various roles, including Executive Architect, Architect, and IT Specialist, across multiple internal organizations.

Dr. Hunter's expertise spans multiple industry sectors, specializing in platform implementations, security and data compliance, process re-engineering, and service delivery improvement. He has extensive experience in technical architecture development, project and program management, and managing end-to-end project lifecycles.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Hunter is dedicated to volunteering. He is actively involved in educational and engagement work with the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

He is based in Edinburgh, UK.
